So Pissed!

So my pediatrition decided to stop practicing just before I had Luke...sucks cause I loved her and she is the kind of doctor I need...very laid back. So I decided to take Luke to the pediatrition that did his circumsition. He is a super nice guy and I really like him...but so pro nursing that I think I am going to cry...scratch that continue to cry. I am nursing, but I am also using formula for a couple of feedings a day...because he seems like he is starving. Well little man hasn't had a bowl movement for 4 days now...I got worried because before it was like 4 a day. So I call and ask and I swear the nurse was so mad at me when I told her I nurse and give him formula. She told me I need to quit the formula right away and she would talk to the doctor. I told her I didn't think he was getting enough and she assured me he was...because she knows. Stupid lady. So if anyone has any tricks to help my little man poo or a different pediatrition that has awesome nurses...let me know.

I have had to put Karo syrup (light corn syrup) in every single bottle for both of my children or they are constantly constipated. My pediatrician suggested it. I read some reports that it can contain salmonella, but she said that is only possible with the molassas in the dark corn syrup. In many formulas, the main ingrediant is corn syrup anyway.

I was concerned about June not pooping when she was pretty young, but my doctor's office said that with breast fed babies it is not uncommon because there is not a lot of waste. I'm sure if you're still mostly breast feeding he'll be just fine.

Dude! I wish I could tell you what works but I only breastfed for two months with all 3 kids and they poo'd like champs... and I don't go to the pediatrician unless they are sick so I really don't know his nurses very well. Can't they go like 10 days and be o.k. After 10 is when you worry? I think? I have heard that if you can get in to the "office" of Shelly Ring and Associates(don't know their names) they are all awesome but she doesn't accept new patients. I think it is wasatch pediatrics. Good luck holl.

Hol- I go to Wasatch Pediatrics in Draper on 123rd and see Dr. Hornyik and I LOVE her and her nurse. She was recommended to me by some friends at work. They are both way laid back, Dr. Hornyik is a little bit of a hippie but so super nice and her nurse acts like she remembers Talon everytime we go in (even if she just pretends I like it). I'm pretty sure they are accepting new patients too.

When Talon was a Newborn he only poo'd maybe once a week and I read online that it was totally normal for breastfeed babies so don't worry. It was actually kind of nice to only have to deal with it once a week or so. I'm still doing about 1 bottle a day and breastfeed him the rest and I promise you breastfeeding gets way easier but you gotta do whatever works for you. Call me!

I was real concerned with Riley not pooping when she was younger too...but when I talked to the pediatrician they said it was pretty normal for them not to have a bowel movement for a few days...now if he doesn't have a bowel movement after 10 days I think you should start freaking out. I freakin love your posts...hang in there, I think everything will work out just fine.

I feel your pain! I went through the same thing with Lucy. Anywho, my doctor, who is super pro breastfeeding said it's perfectly fine to feed at least one bottle of formula a day and be totally fine! And I used to Karo syrup trick and it worked pretty good. Good Luck!!

Holly, CONGRATULATIONS on that sweet baby boy! Randy just told me about him a week ago, yes he was in trouble. So anyway I had to hunt down your blog so I could tell you how happy I am for you, and now I know how darling your family is, (no surprise). I hope everything is going well, I wish I had some great advice, but I really don't. Hang in there, and I love your blog.
